Madrigal á cibdá de Santiago

Chove en Santiago
meu doce amor.
Camelia branca do ar
brila entebrecida ô sol.

Chove en Santiago
na noite escrura.
Herbas de prata e de sono
cobren a valeira lúa.

Olla a choiva pol-a rúa,
laio de pedra e cristal.
Olla o vento esvaído
soma e cinza do teu mar.

Soma e cinza do teu mar
Santiago, lonxe do sol.
Agoa da mañán anterga
trema no meu corazón.

Madrigal for the City of Santiago

It's raining in Santiago
my sweet love.
The wind's white camelia
sparkles her sorrow to the sun.
It's raining in Santiago,
the night is dark.
Silver herbs and dreams
are covering the moon.
Look at the moon in the street,
they are stone and crystal.
Look at the vanished wind,
shadow and ashes of the sea.
Shadow and ashes of the sea,
Santiago, distant from the sun;
the ancient morning's water
makes the heart shiver.

Madrigal á la ville de Saint Jacques

Il pleut sur Saint-Jacques
Mon doux amour.
Camélia blanc de l'air,
Scintillant au soleil.
Il pleut sur Saint-Jacques,
Dans la nuit obscure.
Des herbes d'argent et de songe
Couvrent la lune vide.
Regarde la pluie dans la rue,
Soupir de pierre et de cristal.
Regarde dans le vent évanoui
Ombre et cendre de la mer.
Ombre et cendre de la mer,
Saint Jacques, loin du soleil;
Eau du matin passé
Tremble dans mon coeur.

Madrigal a la Ciudad de Santiago

Llueve en Santiago
mi dulce amor.
Camelia blanca del aire,
brilla su tristeza al sol.
Llueve en Santiago,
la noche es oscura.
Hierbas de plata y de sueño
están cubriendo la luna.
Mira la luna en la calle,
son de piedra y de cristal.
Mira en el viento esvaído
sombra y ceniza del mar.
Sombra y ceniza del mar,
Santiago, lejos del sol;
agua de mañana antiguo
estremece el corazón.

Loinneog ghrá do Chathair Santiago

Tá an bháisteach i Santiago
a chara na meala.
Caiméilia bhán na gaoithe
ag lonradh a cumha don ghrian.
Tá an bháisteach i Santiago agus an oíche dorcha.
Luibheanna airgid agus aislingí
ag folach na gealaí.
Féach an ghealach sa tsráid
de chlocha agus de ghloine.
Féach an ghaoth a d'imigh
scáil agus luaith na mara.
Scáil agus luaith na mara,
Santiago i bhfad ón ghrian,
agus uisce na seanmhaidne
a chuireas crith sa chroí.

Madrigaal voor de Stad Santiago

Het regent in Santiago
mijn liefste.
De blanke camelia van de wind
schittert haar verdriet naar de zon.
Het regent in Santiago,
de nacht is duister.
Zilveren kruiden en dromen
bedekken de maan.
Zie de maan in de straat,
ze zijn van steen en kristal.
Zie in de verdwenen wind
schuim en as van de zee.
Schuim en as van de zee,
Santiago, ver van de zon;
water in de oude ochtend
doet het hart huiveren.
